Hi, I'm Lydia! The planner, creative mind, and very sentimental heart behind A Touch of Gray Events.
I've spent more than a decade working in weddings and events, and if there's one thing I've learned, it's that the moments people remember most aren't always the ones we spend months planning.
Sometimes it's a look across the room. A familiar hand reaching for yours. A laugh you didn't see coming.
I love the beautiful details, but I care even more about the people who give those details meaning. And I believe my job is to bring the experience, creativity, and organization that allow you to enjoy those moments as they're happening.
I’m not a regular wedding planner. I’m a cool wedding planner.
Okay, maybe that's a Mean Girls reference, but I like to think there's a little truth to it.
I believe wedding planning should be filled with laughter, genuine connection, and those little moments that remind you why you're celebrating in the first place. I want to know more than your color palette and Pinterest board. I want to know your story. The things that make you laugh until you cry, the people who mean the world to you, and the moments you hope you'll never forget.
And while I love a beautiful tablescape and a perfectly placed bow, there's a whole lot of intention behind the pretty things. I believe in showing up prepared, paying attention to what others might overlook, and caring about the details because I know what they mean to the people behind them.
But can I tell you something a little deeper?
My biggest fear isn't monsters under the bed or things that go bump in the night. It's reaching the end of this beautiful, messy, extraordinary life God has given me and hearing Him say, “I gave you everything you needed, and you wasted it.”
That thought has a way of putting things into perspective.
Because to me, this work has never been just about weddings. It's about being faithful with the gifts I've been given. It's about the mother holding back tears as she buttons her daughter's dress. The groom taking one deep breath before the doors open. The grandparents dancing to a song they've loved for fifty years. The moments that seem so small until, one day, they're the ones you wish you could live all over again.
I know I can't make time stand still. But if I can help create a day where you get to be fully present for the moments that matter, where you can look around and think, “I wish I could stay right here a little longer,” then I've done something worth doing.
That's why every wedding, every detail, and every smile matter to me.
Couple Keepsakes
Every couple I work with leaves a little piece of their story with me.
After months of conversations, decisions, happy tears, and bringing a wedding day to life, there's one last thing I always try to do before saying goodbye: take a photograph together.
It's a simple tradition, but one that means the world to me.
Because somewhere between our first conversation and that final hug, you become more than another wedding on my calendar. You become people whose stories I've come to know, whose happiness I've celebrated, and whose memories I've had the privilege of helping create.
And when the flowers have faded, the music has stopped, and the wedding day has become a beautiful memory, I get to keep a little piece of it, too.

where it all started
The Heart Behind A Touch of Gray
Before A Touch of Gray Events was ever a business, Gray was a name I was proud to carry.
It was my maiden name, but more importantly, it belonged to someone who helped shape the woman I am today: my grandfather, William Joseph Gray.
To many, he was simply Joe. A hardworking man, deeply devoted to his family and community, who earned the respect of those around him not through grand gestures, but through the way he lived his life. He believed in integrity, in keeping your word, and in doing things the right way—even when no one was watching.
And he believed that anything worth doing was worth doing well.
Those weren't just lessons he taught me. They were values he lived, and ones I hope to carry with me in everything I do.
When it came time to name my business, I wanted something that meant more than weddings, flowers, and beautiful celebrations. I wanted a name that reminded me where I came from, who helped make me who I am, and the kind of legacy I hope to leave behind.
So I chose A Touch of Gray.
Because while my grandfather may no longer be here to see what I'm building, a little piece of him is woven into everything I create.
His name is on my business. His values are at the heart of it. And I hope, in my own small way, I'm making him proud.

Beyond being your dedicated North Georgia Wedding Planner
When I'm not dreaming up beautiful celebrations, you'll find me living my favorite kind of love story—the one happening right at home.
I'm a firefighter's wife, mama to two little blessings, Dallas and Etta Jo, and a small-town Georgia girl with a big love for family, faith, and making ordinary days feel a little extraordinary.
Life around here is a beautiful kind of chaos. There are tractors in the yard, baby giggles in the background, early mornings when my husband heads off to the fire station, and approximately a hundred things happening before I've finished my vanilla latte.
I love a beautifully set table, a reason to get dressed up, a good laugh, and finding little ways to make the people I love feel celebrated. Because the truth is, my love for creating meaningful experiences doesn't stop when the wedding is over. It's woven into the way I live, too.
I'm building a life full of memories worth holding onto, and I consider it such a privilege to help other people do the same.
